Lutron — the benchmark for dimming
Lutron is an American company founded in 1961. The inventor of the world's first solid-state dimmer. For over 60 years — a flawless reputation in lighting and blind control.
Lutron's main advantage is dimming quality. LED sources dim smoothly, without flicker, without hum, with any curve. What a regular KNX dimmer does with difficulty, Lutron does as standard.
Three product lines
HomeWorks QSX is the top platform for residences from 300 m². Supports thousands of devices, dozens of scenarios, integration with other systems (KNX, Crestron, AV). Programmed through Lutron Designer.
RA3 (RadioRA 3) is a wireless (RF) line for apartments and houses up to 200-300 m². Easier to install (no bus needed), ideal for retrofit. Less flexible than QSX, but covers 90% of tasks.
myRoom is a line for the hotel segment. Integration with PMS systems, individual scenarios for guests. Functionally close to RA3, but with hotel features.
What Lutron can do
Lighting control is the core competency. All load types: LED, incandescent, halogen, fluorescent, ELV (electronic low-voltage). Each dimmer is designed for a specific type.
Blind control: curtains, venetian blinds, roller blinds, roman shades, drapery. Drives are quiet, smooth. Opening/closing scenarios with millimeter precision.
Control panels — SeeTouch (classic), Palladiom (premium, glass/metal), Alisse (designer). Up to 10-15 buttons per panel, with backlight and engraving.
Scenarios — configured through Lutron Designer. Time, sensors, events. Standard scenarios: Good morning, Dinner, Cinema, Sleep, Vacation.
Certification and integration
Certified Lutron engineer: Silver (basic), Gold (extended), Platinum (Hi-End). Programming through Lutron Designer — a closed environment, requires training.
Integration with other systems — via Lutron Connect Bridge or LEAP API. Easily interfaces with KNX (via gateway), Crestron, Control4, Savant. Audio-video integration — via RS-232 or IP.
When to choose Lutron
If dimming quality is the top priority. No KNX system will provide the same smooth and flawless LED dimming.
If there are many blinds — Lutron Sivoia QS is the best solution on the market. Quiet, accurate, reliable.
If interior design does not allow compromises — Palladiom and Alisse fit into any project.
If there is no way to run a bus — RA3 works via radio, retrofit into a finished renovation without chasing walls.
